Solar & Battery Calculator. See your payback before you spend a Rand.
Estimate your system size, your monthly saving and your payback period across three funding routes, before you talk to anyone.
Estimate your system size, saving and payback
Enter three details and the results update instantly. No email required to see them, no page reload. This solar and battery calculator sizes a system to cover roughly two-thirds of your consumption (a realistic balance of generation and cost), then shows what that system would save under each of three funding routes.
Electricity tariffs rise every year. See what that means for your payback before the next increase lands.
Your details
Your typical monthly Eskom or municipal account before solar.
Solar generation per installed kWp varies by province. The Northern Cape and Free State generate more than KwaZulu-Natal or the Western Cape.
Estimated result
ExampleEstimated monthly saving
A battery-backed system this size would keep core operations running through a typical outage.
Based on a R45,000 monthly electricity account in Gauteng. Enter your own details above for your estimate.
System flow
Three ways to fund it
ExampleEach route is shown honestly, including its tradeoff. None is sold as the obviously-best option.
ESCo
R0 upfront capital
Monthly saving after the ESCo service fee
Little or no upfront capital, paid from savings. The asset is funded and run by a financing partner; you pay a charge covered by what you save.
Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
R0 upfront capital
Net monthly saving after the PPA rate
No ownership, pay only for what the system produces. You buy the power at an agreed rate without owning the hardware.
Outright ownership
R 1 581 477
Simple payback period
Highest saving over time, full capital cost upfront. You own the system and capture the full saving across its life.
15-year cumulative saving
How the three routes stack up over time. Ownership dips negative until payback, then pulls ahead. The dashed line shows ownership with an 8% annual tariff rise: the gap widens as grid prices climb.

Book a ConsultationThis is an indicative estimate, not a quotation, not a feasibility study and not a guarantee of saving. Your actual system size, cost and saving depend on a site assessment, your load profile and confirmed pricing.
From bill to system size
This solar payback calculator for South Africa takes your average monthly electricity bill and divides it by a blended commercial tariff to estimate your monthly consumption in kilowatt-hours. It then sizes a solar system to cover roughly two-thirds of that consumption, a realistic balance between generation and cost, rather than an unrealistic figure that implies fully replacing your grid draw without heavy battery investment. Your province adjusts the generation assumption per installed kWp, because the Northern Cape and Free State generate meaningfully more per kWp than KwaZulu-Natal or the Western Cape.
Three ways to pay
ESCo
The asset is funded and run by a financing partner; you pay a charge covered by your savings.
PPA
You pay a rate per kWh generated, without owning the hardware.
Ownership
You carry the full capital cost upfront and capture the full saving over the system's life.

Questions you ask first
The things decision-makers raise before a solar conversation gets serious.
